As I sit here and type this blogpost, we are 10 days away from our first ever family missions’ trip to Eswatini. Even though we have been leading teams on these trips for 18 years, this one is different. It is special because of the unique team that God has brought together, our family. It is special because we are taking Laila back for the first time to visit her homeland and to minister to her people. It is special because our adult children are owning the ministry and preparing to lead. With any work that we do for the Lord, we need His Purpose, Protection, and Provision throughout. I feel an urgency to send out a call for prayer over our trip. We know that this kind of work comes with spiritual warfare. Especially on this trip, with all the unique aspects to it, we ask you to join us in praying for all that God is going to do. Here are the ways that you can specifically pray:
1. Purpose
- Pray for the many teachings, trainings, worship times, and devotions that are being prepared and will be shared with leaders. We desire to share truth and encouragement, to uplift, equip, and challenge them in the work that God has called them to.
- Pray for wisdom and discernment as we seek to understand the context of each environment and hear from the Holy Spirit to be sensitive to the needs of each moment.
- Pray for us to see the purpose God has in our own lives on this trip. We believe we are there to learn and grow as well.
- Pray specifically for Laila as she encounters the country where she was born and interacts with the people and places that were a part of her first 9 months of life.
- Pray for the unexpected/unplanned encounters we have. We want to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as we seek to minister to the needs around us.
2. Protection
- Pray for safety on our travel. There are multiple flights and driving legs of our trip. While in country we do a significant amount of travel to visit each of our partners.
- Pray for the health of our team throughout our time.
- Pray against the attacks of the enemy that would try to thwart God’s plan and purpose.
3. Provision
- Beyond Survival desires to be a conduit to connect resources with real needs. Pray for God to reveal those needs to us as we are on the ground.
- God’s provision is about more than money. It is about love, care, compassion, and presence. Pray that we can be a source of God’s provision in all these areas.
- We have raised 2/3 of the support we need to fully fund our trip. Pray with us as we ask for God’s provision over the last 1/3 that we still need.
