One month away!

One month from today, 9 of us are boarding a plane to Africa. This trip has been in our hearts since the day we returned to the U. S. with Isaiah and Laila. Our family was finally complete. Our connection to Eswatini existed prior to God’s call on us to adopt, and we knew that completing the adoption would not change that. If anything, it further fueled our desire to continue to invest in the relationships and ministries that we were partnering with. Now, 16 years later, we are taking Laila back, and our family is forming the team that will do the work of the ministry together.

As we prepare for the trip, we are communicating with our partners on the ground. It is our desire to come alongside those who are daily doing the work of the ministry to encourage, empower, and support what God has called them to. By contributing to the expenses of our trip, you are investing in the work that we do on the ground with our many partners. You are supporting the work of Beyond Survival to create opportunities for others to thrive and allowing us to be a conduit of resources to real needs.

Pray for our partners

We travel all over the country of Eswatini on our trips. There are a number of partnerships that we have established since we began in 2006. We want to highlight the work of these ministries and share the impact they are making. Please be in prayer for each one of our partners below:

    1. ABC Ministries – Beyond Survival has partnered with the Abandoned Babies for Christ ministries (www.abcministry.org.za) is a safe haven and emergency placement home for abandoned babies. Not only do we encourage those responsible for the home, we will also do any necessary repairs or projects, love on the children, and meet real needs. It is our hope that these children will soon have the opportunity to be adopted in the future.
    2. Care Point – This year we will be visiting a Mnconcwane Care Point. We will build new friendships by loving on the kids, encouraging leaders, and providing a fun day for the community. We will also be doing Home Visits to some families of the children.
    3. Halfway House – We will visit the home where our two adopted children were living. Each year we visit the children there, invest in the leaders, encourage them, and deliver much needed supplies.
    4. The Luke Commission – The Luke Commission(TLC) (www.lukecommission.org) offers comprehensive, compassionate health care to the underserved of Eswatini. We have the opportunity to invest in their leaders and encourage them through their current challenges.
    5. Aquaponics - We will be checking in on the aquaponics projects at Advocates of Hope(AOH) and Umdoni Farms in partnership with YWAM Emerge (https://www.ywamemerge.org).
    6. Umdoni Farms – We will be staying at Umdoni and learning about the vision and hope of this unique quest house and farm. Umdoni is the place for leadership training and equipping others to have a future.
    7. Training. We will provide leadership training with ministry partners. These will include TLC(The Luke Commission), AOH(Advocates of Hope), AIM(Adventures in Missions), PLG (Point Leaders Gathering).
    8. Advocates of Hope (AOH) – Leadership development is paramount in helping people get beyond survival circumstances. We partner with Advocates of Hope (https://www.advocatesofhope.org) to help train the next generation on our trips. They are building communities and breaking the cycle , one person at a time.
    9. Unity Gospel Foundation – Leadership training with the staff of this nonprofit organization that provides young people with comprehensive programs that cultivate skills, instill confidence, and ignite entrepreneurial spirit, enabling them to construct sustainable livelihoods and become architects of their futures.

We believe God has special appointments for us on this trip and we can’t wait to discover them.  We are grateful for your continued support and prayers as we pour out our heart, gifts, and resources into this special little country.  Thanks for joining us on this journey. We are grateful for your friendship and partnership.

Would you consider partnering with us?

We invite you into this next step through your prayers and support. This year, we opened this trip to anyone who wanted to go with us. There were many over the last few months that expressed interest. As the deadline to commit approached, we saw the numbers dwindling to only our family. We believe that God is even in this part of the process and has a specific plan and purpose for our family to go as a team of 9.

If He is stirring your heart to partner with us, we invite you to give towards this historic trip.  Thanks so much for your friendship, prayers, and encouragement.
